Kerissa Abraham, Assistant Fashion Editor, Issue #5

My name is Kerissa Abraham and I am currently studying Communication with a minor in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Studying Communication has given me a huge opportunity as one of the assistant fashion editors for Envision magazine. It  has exposed me to one of the things I love and that is fashion consulting/styling for men and women. After I graduate from my undergraduate at Andrews University I plan to travel to France to take French classes for a year through Adventist Colleges Abroad  (ACA). I hope to one day become a professional fashion stylist, as well as a professional Speech-Language Pathologist.

Paco Ramos, Writer and Assistant Fashion Editor, Issue #5

Hello, my name is Paco and I am a graduate student in the Department of Communication, at Andrews University. I am graduating in May 2013. I had the opportunity to work with Envision Magazine as the Assistant Fashion Editor and Contributor Writer. I am from San Diego California and I cannot wait to go back to sunshine. This ongoing Michigan winter isn’t working out to well for me. I’ve always wanted to work for a magazine and be published and I thank Professor Debbie Michel for giving me that opportunity!

Jacina Shultz, Copy Editor and Writer, Issue #5

My name is Jacina Shultz. I’m about to enter my fourth year as English Pre-Med with a minor in Math. I’m 20 years old and from Southern California.

I’m so thrilled I had the chance to work with Envision for a second time. It’s an amazing experience and I’ve learned all the challenges and blessings when writing someone else’s story. Every time I write someone’s story or experience, I have to deliberate what to include and exclude, knowing that what I write is the only thing that some people will ever know about the person. It’s been a difficult process that’s taught me more about others as well as myself. More than anything, though, I’ve learned that everyone has a story worth telling; all they need is a listening ear to tell it to.

Ashleigh Burtnett, Money Section Writer, Issue #5

Hello! I’m excited to be a part of Envision, once more. What a great honor. Really. I’ve seen it grow from one courageous professor’s dream to a well-established magazine.  Congratulations to the entire story-telling team! I have a bachelor’s in Journalism, work at Andrews University, and am currently in a web design class that, whoa…really gets me puzzled sometimes. But I love it. I dabble in photography and enjoy design, editing, trying new foods, and baking sweets. I’m originally from the great state of Tennessee, but have lived in Indiana/Michigan for 16 years. Privileged to have experienced life in over 15 countries.

Brittany Swart, Writer, Issue #5

My name is Brittany Swart, and I am majoring in anthropological archaeology with a minor in history. I enjoy books, and writing in my spare time. I’m 19 years old, from Grand Junction, MI.

Writing my first article for Envision magazine has been great; interviews with sources for the story have been very informative and helpful. Learning how college students have come up with ways to pay for the cost of school has been interesting as well as inspiring; they’ve done everything from collecting cans to blogging! Not only have I enjoyed the process, but learning about college students’ ideas for paying for college, at Andrews University and elsewhere, has given me ideas for paying off my school bill as well.

Klara Hopkins, Photographer, Issue #5

Hi I’m Klara. I’m 21 years old and a Medical Laboratory Science Major. Born and raised in Berrien Springs. I’ve worked at my parent’s photography studio, Hopkins Studio, ever since I can remember so I have grown up being on both sides of the camera. I use photography as a way to escape reality and express myself when I’m not doing sciency things like studying for Ochem.

Jennifer Shrestha, Photographer, Issue #5

My name is Jennifer Shrestha and I am studying at Andrews University. I’m from the country of Nepal and grew up there for most of my childhood. I started traveling the world at a very young age and soon found my love for culture and history. This eventually led me to my degrees at Andrews where I finished one degree in Anthropological Archaeology and am in the process of finishing up my second degree in Photography. I hope to share the love for cultures, people, and history through my photography and open up doors to vanishing cultures so they will never be forgotten.
